Rules

REGISTRATION
- Double registration in two consecutive levels is allowed in gold and above. 
- Competitors may only span TWO LEVELS of events. For example, a competitor MAY compete in Silver International Standard, Silver American Smooth, Silver American Rhythm, and Gold International Latin. A competitor MAY NOT compete in Silver International Standard, Gold International Latin, Gold American Rhythm, and Open American Smooth.

- Competitors may lead down ONE starting at SILVER, meaning bronze dancers may not lead down for newcomers, and leading down two levels or more is not permitted.

ELIGIBILITY
- Newcomer: Dancers may compete in the newcomer level only if they have started competing for less than 6 months.
- Bronze: Must have danced for three semesters maximum or less.
- Competitors may not dance an event in which they have accumulated 7 YCN points.
- If a dance is not offered at a competitor’s level, he or she may dance up one level for that dance. For example, a Bronze competitor may compete in Bronze International Waltz and Quickstep as well as Silver International Tango and Foxtrot. Syllabus events are open to all dancers competing at newcomer to gold levels.

CHOREOGRAPHY
- Syllabus competitors must abide by the ISTD Syllabi for International Latin and Standard events, and by the NDCA Syllabi for American Smooth and Rhythm events.
- Open choreography is permitted in the Pre-Champ and Champ events ONLY.


COSTUMES
- Costumes are permitted in all levels EXCEPT Newcomer.

- All heels must have suede caps to protect the dancefloor.
